Hello everyone,

I’m still relatively new here and in this field, but I’m really excited about robotics. I’m currently a sophomore Computer Engineering student, and I’m working really hard. I’m trying to do volunteer internships and contribute to open-source projects.

Setting aside who I am, I’m really worried about finding a job in this field in the future.

I see many graduates around me who remain unemployed for a long time, and even my friends who have developed their skills in other fields (like web, mobile, etc.) are struggling to find jobs, despite more employment opportunities in those areas. Additionally, many people on platforms like LinkedIn mention how difficult it is to find jobs in the IT field, and this really worries me. The niche nature of the robotics field only fuels this concern.

So I wanted to ask the community directly:

How difficult has it actually been for people breaking into robotics recently, compared to other software fields?

For someone still early on, trying to land a first real role in this field what would you focus on? Is open-source contribution the right lever, or are there other paths that matter more for actually getting hired?

I’m really curious to hear your thoughts and experiences on this topic.

1 post - 1 participant

Read full topic
